Wednesday 14th January 2009

Dear all,

We have switched the shoot day to the other Sunday from the beginning on the year, we shot on the 4th & 18th January and so on every fortnight.

We extended the course to 12 stands in October and plan to go to 13 stands soon, 13 is the magic number which gets rid of the 5 pairs, it will spread you all out, and cut down on waiting time.

The coned and roped/taped off walkways are working and keep you away from clay and shot fallout, please stay within the safe zones, and ensure newcomers do the same.

Our first winter has shown that Forhill is a wet ground, and the heavy rain of the late summer and autumn hasn’t helped. We have started to renew the old drainage courses, dig ditches to get the water away, and protect the paths. Bridges and pipes will be put in to get you across the water. Road planeings are going in from the farmyard to the field so that we can get the mules up and down without churning up ground.

All this is going to take some time, and odd bits may get worse before they get better, but bear with us.

Clays costs went up in price twice in 2008, and we had to increase the cost of shooting on the 4 January by £1, to £22 to cover it. Membership has been introduced for 2009 at £25 per annum, this allows you to shoot for £20 a round, and the visitor’s price will go from £22 to £24 on the 15 February, giving a saving of £4 per round to members. Membership applications can be downloaded off this website, or are available from the clubhouse.

We now carry a wide selection of competitively priced cartridges, a copy of our latest pricelist is downloadable in pdf format.

The WGC committee have asked that we continue to run their trophies, however neither the ‘Pheasant’ or ‘Christmas Trophies’ have been forthcoming, so we have purchased suitably engraved whisky tumblers, so that the competition winners have a memento of their achievement.

John Griffiths has a trophy that he has not collected yet, if he can contact me I will get it to him.

Once again, thank you all for your support,

Jt, dj & the ‘motley crew’
